It is depressing that four Supreme Court justices were prejudiced enough against the Second Amendment to bastardize their interpretation. In effect they wanted to write the Second Amendment out of the Constitution. They espoused that the extent of the right guaranteed under the Second  Amendment should be unlike any other rights and be dependent upon which city and State you live in. That is absurd and shows the mischief created by progressivism.

The United States has a population of about 310,000,000 but only has about 700,000 peace officers.   With these officers on four crews covering three shifts, at any given time there is only one officer on duty for every 2000 citizens.  We have a very thin line of security that cannot be in all places and cannot protect everyone.  Consequently the individual has been put in the position of having to assume responsibility for most of his or her own security.  At the present time, more than 7,000,000 or our fellow citizens in this country carry licensed concealed handguns out of a sense of duty to deter violent crime.   As a consequence of the increasing dependence upon concealed carry for crime deterrence, all "gun free zones" that have no deterrence are becoming more asymmetrically dangerous.

Response To Senator Brown's Response

Just received your reply from my last contact message regarding the latest Supreme Court decision on the Second Amendment and your statement that the biggest threat to the Second Amendment is gun related crime and that it could fuel greater support for an outright ban on gun ownership.  This is the second time that I have heard this rather unique statement from you. It indicates that you do not understand the issue of personal safety or the danger of Progressivism and how it will lead to anarchy.  (And perhaps you may have not noticed that the gun related crime rate has been declining.*) The absolute best way that we can work together to reduce gun violence is to decriminalize drugs as an economic engine of social destruction with it's associated hundreds of thousands of "business driven" murders on both sides of our southern border. And unlike our sorry history with prohibition, we do not need a Constitutional amendment.
